Over the 3 day experiential workshop, you will:

  • Learn basic hand drumming techniques (no prior experience necessary)
  • Practise program foundations including mastering layered rhythms, facilitating fun drumming games and engaging discussions
  • Explore group facilitation strategies to maintain a safe and inclusive space for all participants
  • Learn how to evaluate your program delivery using an action research approach and report on outcomes

It is a fun, intensive and practical professional development. On completion you will be provisionally accredited to begin delivering the DRUMBEAT program right away.

Who is the Facilitator training for?

Professionals working with vulnerable populations will gain the most from the DRUMBEAT Facilitator Training. The DRUMBEAT program may be a very benefical intervention for you if your role includes working with people to support their wellbeing, improve social and coping skills and change behaviour. Participants come from a wide range of sectors across the Education and Community Services industry that include counselling services, mental health services, alcohol and other drug services, out-of-home-care services, hospitals, aged care services, services supporting serving and ex-service men and women and their families, refugee and migrant services, disability services, justice and correction services, primary schools, high schools, special schools and school focused services.

What resources are provided at the training?

You will receive a Training Workbook and standard DRUMBEAT Program Manual to take home. A djembe (drum) will also be provided for the training. Once you have completed the full training and gained provisional accreditation you will also receive additional materials and resources to support you in your program delivery.

Do I need to bring anything to the training?

Bring a pen, water bottle and we’ll provide the rest. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothing.

Will I be required to participate in all practical activities?

Come prepared to have fun and drum your socks off! This is an experiential, hands-on training, and active participation is encouraged. It's also beneficial to develop your skills and gain experience. Check out our Facebook Page for videos of the training in action!

Can I attend only one or two days of the three day workshop?

You must attend all 3 days and participate in the skills demonstration to gain provisional accreditation to deliver Holyoake’s DRUMBEAT program. If you have a valid reason why you are unable to make all 3 days e.g. sudden illness, family emergency, please send us an email and we can arrange for you to complete the 3 day training program at another time.

Will meals be provided at the training?

Morning tea and lunch are provided each day. We try our best to accommodate special dietary requirements, please check with us if you have concerns.

What payment options do you offer?

You may choose to pay as an individual or as a business. When registering you will have the option to pay online by credit card OR pay later by invoice. If you select ‘Pay by invoice’, you may pay by EFT or by credit card over the phone. You will receive a tax invoice as an attachment with the confirmation email. Payment must be made in full prior to the start of the training – please reference the invoice number.

Is there a minimum number of people per workshop?

Generally workshops with less than 12 people registered will be cancelled two weeks before the training start date. Registered attendees will be contactedby email and have the option to rebook at another workshop or get a full refund.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unforeseen events may occur that prevent you from attending and we try to be as flexible as possible. If you are unable to attend after registering for a training you must notify us in writing. You may transfer your registration to another training in the following 12 months or to another colleague to attend in your place. Refunds will not be given for ‘No Shows’, including being unable to attend due to illness, personal or work issues. Please contact us via email drumbeatservices@holyoake.org.au.

Holyoake reserves the right to:

  • Cancel or change the scheduled dates for any training where minimum registration numbers are not reached
  • Change the location of the training
  • Substitute trainers

In the event of the training being cancelled, Holyoake will notify registered attendees via email prior to the training start date to offer a full refund or to transfer the registration to a different training.
